Music Mela 2017 – Electric Islamabad !
By – Fatima Hasan Zaidi
Music Mela is a mingling of musical artistry that brings various genres and performances on to one stage. Just like the previous three years, this year too, Music Mela was held at Pakistan National Council of Arts in Islamabad, and once again, it was organized by FACE (Foundation for Arts, Culture and Education).
The 4th Music Mela was ‘one of a kind’; for the first time ever, this year the audience was entertained to an Electronic Dance Music night and dance workshops, apart from the usual enthralling music from every part of Pakistan.
FACE believes that music is a free state of vision without any obstacle of cultural differences. It gathers artists from all across Pakistan and gives them an even platform to wow the audience of Islamabad. This year’s banner artists were Attaullah Khan Esakhelvi, Mai Dhai, Qawalistan, Call the Band, Sattar Jogi and Noor Ali (Noori). There were also abundant inter cultural workshops and sessions held, including
- The Canvas
- Sain Tanveer Bros, Dhol
- Classical Dance by Adnan Jahangir
- Persian Dance by Rabia Ali
- Sibti & the Retrosexuals
- Dance Workshop by Amna Mawaz
The performances of the Electronic Dance Music (EDM) night were held due to the tremendous teamwork of DJ Shumraiz, Ali Noor, Imran Aziz Mian and Zeejah Fazli. Each artist gave a confident, thrilling performance to the audience, who braved both the heat and heavy rainfall of Islamabad to be mesmerized by these star performers.
Before the Mela this year, Zeejah Fazli, the founder of FACE, took an initiative known as the FACE Bandwagon in collaboration with Taazi. In this campaign, FACE visited a number of institutes, selected gifted musicians and provided them with a platform to showcase their music talent.
Music Mela 2017 was a dazzling, energetic and vibrant music fiesta, living up to it’s reputation of excellence. Once again the Organizers managed to give the public of Islamabad a wonderful, fun filled weekend, as well as providing the invited Artists another platform to showcase their skill and talent. ,
Phaser would also like to recognize the awesome efforts of the hidden, unsung heroes who rallied to make the event such a success. This includes the Sound Engineers, Lighting Technicians, Stage workers, Ushers, Cleaners, etc. Despite the weather playing tricks on all three days, everyone pitched in to make this another exciting, memorable Music Mela.Share it with the World:
